FLL Medal

Here is a Quickie render of a medal I got for participating in the states competition for FLL (First Lego League). Although my team didn't win, we came in 16th, and for you reference, we are known as ORGANIZED CHAOS!

On to the render...

Merry Christmas (or whatever you celebrate!)

New Blogger

I am currently in the process of inviting a new blogger to blog: Nolan Gunn.

Nolan, a teenager from Vermont, will be assisting me keeping this blog alive by (hopefully) posting some of his Blender Renders.

Vaise WIP

This render was done just because I needed something that I could feel proud of. It was origionally just going to be a vaise, but than I added a table and flower. I made the vaise by making a string of verticles, than using the "spin" tool to create the shape.

Material settings I have found good for making metal objects

I have recently been making random renders to test making metal meterials with diffrent settings. I have found that with Ray Merror on and with RayMir to .27 and Fresnel to 1.8, it makes it the correct reflectivity. Also with the diffuse shader as Oren-Nay with high Ref value and low Rough value, you can get a good shading. Specular set to CookTorr with medium spec value also works well. Metal Materials work best if they are colored .788, .805, and .815 or similar. The image above was made using a cube, and a bunch of Arrays.  They are supposed to be rails/beams.

Starwars Blender

A zabrak- AKA Darth mauls species.

Above is a T-21 Stormtrooper blaster Seen in Starwars Epesode IV. It is not done yet, as I still need to finish the handle.

The Q3 naboo hold out blaster was a fun make. Below is my refrence image. My model turned out to hard edged, but I couldn't apply a subserf to it without ruining the shape.

The above Terbolaser instalation was probably one of the most fun models I have made. The laser blasts are made with a halo texture on modefied cones. The blasts also have suns inside them for the lighting effects.
